On 25 March, the feast of the Annunciation, staff at the Catholic Education Office, Leichhardt gathered at midday to pray the Angelus. The Angelus is an ancient prayer recalling the events of the Annunciation, when the angel Gabriel announced to Mary that she would conceive by the Holy Spirit and become the mother of God.
Archbishop Anthony Fisher OP, the Archbishop of Sydney, has invited all those in Sydney Catholic school and office communities to join him in pausing each day to pray the Angelus. The Archbishop wrote,“With 100 000 of us praying together each day, it will be a wonderful act of solidarity and communion”.
Today’s gathering in prayer marked the beginning of school and office communities joining with the Archbishop in praying the Angelus each day.
