On Tuesday, 9 February, newly appointed Religious Education Coordinators of the Archdiocese gathered at Sydney Catholic Schools Central Office for their induction and commissioning.
The induction was led by the Director of Religious Education and Evangelisation, Mr. Anthony Cleary. In his presentation , Anthony spoke of the role of the REC, challenges and priorities, and the nature of leadership. The new Religious Education Coordinators were able to reflect upon, and discuss, their experiences in groups.
Very Rev Dr Gerald Gleeson VG EV then addressed the group of the challenges of being a light to the peoples. The group were able to reflect on Very Rev Dr Gerald Gleeson’s advice and wisdom regarding Religious Education in modern times.
At the culmination of the day, the newly appointed Religious Education Coordinators gathered in St. Martha’s Chapel, with the Leaders of Learning (Religious Education) and the Religious Education and Evangelisation team, to participate in a prayer service led by Very Rev Dr Gleeson. At the end of the prayer service, the new Religious Education Coordinators were formally commissioned by Anthony Cleary, the Director of Religious Education and Evangelisation.
