Local School Youth Ministry
There is a Youth Ministry Coordinator (YMC) in each of the Archdiocesan Secondary Schools. These YMCs are teachers within the school who have been selected to these positions of leadership, working with the Religious Education Coordinator and other staff in engaging students in faith and mission activities within the school.
Some of their local school activities include a range of voluntary opportunities such as:
- A variety of prayer opportunities
- Leadership opportunities in Music and as Eucharistic Ministers, serving local liturgy in schools and parishes
- Supporting Catechists in the teaching of State School students
- Supporting Deanery Youth Groups across our Diocese
- Offering RCIA for interested students within our schools
- Immersion, justice and outreach programs that connect to Catholic social teachings and the wider church in action, supporting the needs of people living in poverty and disadvantage
